Algoma Orchards Limited was established in 1964 as a small apple grower and packer of apples, shipping to local grocery stores in the Durham region. Over the years it has grown and progressed, developing into the largest independently owned apple grower and packing company in Canada.
Presently the Kemp and Gibson families own and operate Algoma, combined they have 8 generations of farm expertise growing fresh apples in Clarington.
Currently, Algoma grows apples on 1000 acres, and along with 50 growers throughout the province of Ontario, supplements its requirements for the facility. Algoma Orchards are the largest producer in Ontario’s newest varieties that are coming to market. Gala, Honeycrisp and Ambrosia are the most promising.
